Affordable Housing Progresses in Truro

Housing has grown increasingly unaffordable for working-class Americans. A lack of affordable inventory in the housing market, plus much of what inventory does exist being bought up en masse by private equity, has resulted in working people who live in this country scrambling for whatever is left. This problem is even worse on the Cape, with most of the housing relegated to seasonal use.

However, there may be a light at the end of this tunnel. After almost a decade, an affordable housing project in Truro took a large step forward. With a 43-apartment housing project on the way and the 21st Century Road to Housing Act moving through Congress making a real impact in Martha's Vineyard, there is newfound hope for the future of affordable housing on the Cape and Islands.

The Cape Cod community has been in need of affordable housing for quite a long time. This project will help make moving to the Cape a feasible prospect for countless Americans and bring in new blood to revitalize Cape Cod's year-round population.
